Quorum Games Winners

Homegroup take Gold!

The Quorum Games was another exciting year of games, sports and tournaments. A fantastic effort from all participants with lots of fun had by all. There were lots of nail-biting competitions coupled with easy victories for teams and individual players.

This year’s Quorum Games started off with a tense Boules match followed by a nerve-wracking egg and spoon race that saw Homegroup take an early lead. But with it all still to play for, the victory from Macaw at the Netball tournament and the win from Convergys at the Tennis meant it was all still to play for.

However after a tough sack race and an even tougher Football Tournament, it was Homegroup that sailed through to victory for their second year in a row, taking Gold in the Games!! Macaw came in second taking Silver and Convergys took Bronze with a fantastic effort from everyone that got involved. A huge congratulations to Homegroup, a victory very well deserved, lets see if they can make it a hat-trick next year!

Tour de France Bike Hub

with crepes by La Petite Creperie

The line between insanity and genius is said to be a fine one, and in early 20thcentury France, anyone envisaging a near-2,500-km-long cycle race across the country would have been widely viewed as unhinged. Having provoked a mixture of astonishment and admiration, le Tour soon won over the sporting public and the roadside crowds swelled. The French people took to their hearts this unusual event which placed their towns, their countryside and, since 1910, even their mountains, in the spotlight.

At Quorum we encourage cycling to work and host a monthly bicycle workshop and information service. This includes a Bike Hub service in partnership with Sustrans: Route planning information and maps; Bicycle maintenance; Sale of cycling equipment; Second hand bike sales and group Bike Rides.

Inspired by the Tour De France we had the lovely French boys from La Petite Creperie come to serve up some delicious sweet crepes and savoury galettes! They’ve brought a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to the North East and we can’t wait to have them back soon!

Premier League trophy Visit

Staff treated to a visit from the Premiership Trophy

EXCITED business park staff have hosted a visit from the Premier League Trophy, in association with Barclay’s Workplace Banking, which was onsite to mark the closing of the annual Quorum Games – a three-week long programme of sporting events that saw companies battle it out to win gold.

To mark the occasion, Newcastle’s very own Monty and Maggie Magpie and Sunderland Mascots Sampson and Delilah were on hand to guard the goals in an intense penalty shootout, letting competitive tenants try their luck at scoring a screamer past their opposing team’s mascot for a small charitable donation.

All proceeds were split evenly between both of the clubs’ respective youth charities, Newcastle United Foundation and Sunderland’s Foundation of Light.
Courtesy of its Workplace Banking, a hot desk banking advice service provided to workers on the park, Barclays facilitated the exclusive Premier League Trophy’s visit on site, with staff invited to have a photo taken alongside the Trophy.

The Quorum Games saw cricket competitions, sack races, boules and bubble football taster sessions among the many activities take place over the three week period.
Determined teams fought hard to secure their position on top of the podium, with Home Group securing gold for their efforts at the Quorum closing ceremony, followed by Macaw and Convergys, who awarded silver and bronze respectively.

Quorum events manager Laura Barber said: “Once again, the Quorum Games were a huge success among all our tenants. Having the League Trophy onsite alongside visits from two of our local football clubs only added to the excitement of the Games, bringing out everyone’s competitive edge on the final day of activities.

“This annual event offers the perfect opportunity for all our businesses to join together in light-hearted sportsmanship, combining their different abilities and showcasing the staff camaraderie that exists here on the park.”
