Quorum Christmas Market sees the park get into a festive spirit!

With nearly 50 stalls, the Christmas Market was Quorum’s biggest and best event yet all from our new events location in Q10.

With stalls such as The Fat Hippo, Monsieur Crepe and Deli Churros, some of the biggest names in Newcastle street food served alongside a selection of stalls selling homeware, artisan goods, gifts and treats – making the Market a one stop shop for Christmas shopping!

NCFE named as Awarding Organisation of the Year at FAB Awards

Quorum tenants NCFE have won an award at inaugural industry award.

National Awarding Organisation, NCFE, was named as Awarding Organisation of the Year at the inaugural FAB Awards, which took place in Leicester in late October.

Organised by the Federation of Awarding Bodies, the FAB Awards showcase the work its member organisations do for the benefit of learners’ futures, with categories including Innovation of the Year, Team and Individual Contribution of the Year, and Qualification of the Year.

NCFE overcame competition from fellow Awarding Organisations to come out on top in its category, which was sponsored by Cirrus Assessment.

One of the key reasons behind NCFE’s win was its strong focus on customer service. Also last night, representatives from the organisation attended a gala evening at Old Trafford to celebrate its placement in the Top 50 Companies for Customer Service for the second year running.

This prestigious customer service benchmarking programme uses real customers to mystery shop and benchmark against the best in the business across multiple sectors. NCFE was again the only awarding body to be recognised in the Top 50, alongside big names such as Tesco and Sony.

NCFE has celebrated its best year yet for customer engagement. The results of its annual survey showed that overall customer engagement was 86% – a record high since the survey began in 2011 and an 8% increase on last year’s overall score.

David Grailey, Chief Executive of NCFE, said: “We’re delighted to have won Awarding Organisation of the Year at the FAB Awards, which recognises our colleagues who help to make NCFE the best we can be every day.

Face Your Fears Day

October 13th saw staff offered a chance to face their fears as part of a national event.

Snakes, spiders, snails and other creepy crawlies were brought in by Gosforth based For Paws.

All tastes were catered for with the sneaky addition of some cuter animals too – a rabbit, guinea pigs and a pygmy hedgehog (Quill I am) who were a massive hit with men and women alike. Eileen, owner at For Paws presented a talk on each individual animal and staff were allowed to handle any creature they liked.

Events Manager Laura Barber was thrilled with the event ‘We actually saw people with real phobias come in today – not all of them held every animal, but said even just the step of coming into the room was a big step for them – it feels great to have helped someone make a big achievement in the middle of their day! Best of all, For Paws only deal with rescued animals making this a great company to work with.

Quorum encourages employees to travel smarter by launching Liftshare

Encouraging employees to liftshare can bring big benefits for businesses, and Quorum is the latest notable name to launch their own liftshare scheme.

Playing host to some major household names such as Tesco Bank, Balfour Beatty, Convergys, Home Group and NCFE, the business park has over 4,000 people working on-site and boasts an impressive employment catchment area of 1 million– and this will be boosted as employees offer lifts to and from their home towns.

Quorum Business Park already has successful partnerships in place with local bus companies, with Arriva investing in new buses with free wifi to service the site, and having worked hard to achieve a 20% growth figure for bus use since 2008.

And the new scheme, Quorum Lifthsare, will help those for whom public transport isn’t an option. Employees on the park can offer a ride to others on their commute, or look up others going their way. Wherever you’re coming from, you’re likely to find a match

The new scheme marks Quorum’s ongoing commitment to helping grow and develop the businesses onsite, as well as encouraging employees to use sustainable travel to get to and from work.

Quorum Liftshare was launched in September as part of the Travel Smarter Month Campaign across the park. The Hub team have been handing out car air fresheners to promote the scheme and everyone who registered in September were entered into a prize draw to win a free car valet.

There will be ongoing promotion of the scheme throughout the winter months encouraging people to work out how much they can save using the scheme using an online Savings Calculator.

NCFE Charity Sleep Out Event

Onsite tenants, NCFE’s sponsored sleep out raises over £2000 for the Princes Trust as staff sleep overnight at Quorum Sports Courts

On Friday 9th October 7 colleagues swapped home comforts for a night sleeping outdoors on the Sports Courts onsite.

The sleep out is just one of the activities that the Newcastle based organisations’ Shine Team – a leadership programme designed to develop upcoming mangerial talent- has organised as part of The Princes Trust Million Makers Challenge.

NCFE Communications leader, Lindsay Plumpton said ‘We came up with the idea to hold a sponsored sleep out so that we could experience just some of the hardships that many unemployed young people go through on a daily basis. It was a cold night but luckily we missed any rain! We’re pleased to have raised over £1000 in sponsorship which was matched by NCFE giving us a total of £2000 raised for the Princes Trust Million Makers.

Benton Dog and Cat Shelter Dog of the Month

Meet Bryn as resident at Benton Dog and Cat Shelter since July.

Bryn (Dog No 109 BNF) is a beautiful crossbreed who arrived at Benton North Farm shelter in July 2015. He is approximately 10 years old. Bryn is an older dog but is full of energy. He is a friendly, affectionate and happy boy. Bryn is good on the lead while on his daily walks with our staff and volunteers. He can also sit for his daily treat.

Quorum Welcomes New Tenants Greggs!

North East bakery favourite Greggs has announced plans to relocate its main office site to Quorum

The move comes as the company looks to consolidate a number of its office locations across the region, bringing them into one main business hub on the business park.

Chief executive Roger Whiteside said the company settled on creating new headquarters at Quorum Business Park because of its high quality and modern office space, prime business location, good transport links and close proximity to Greggs Balliol and Gosforth Park production centres.

The company expects to complete the move in spring 2016. Roger Whiteside, chief executive officer at Greggs said: “This move is a positive and exciting step for us, and gives us the opportunity to bring all of our central functions into one location.

“Our new office space will be equipped with a modern interior and carefully designed work spaces to help ensure the best possible working environment for our colleagues.

“I am proud that although we are a thriving national company, with over 1660 shops UK wide, we continue to be rooted firmly in the North East community where the Greggs story first began over 75 years ago.”

Norma Redfearn, Elected Mayor for North Tyneside Council said: “I am delighted Greggs has chosen Quorum Business Park in North Tyneside as the base for its new headquarters.

“The company is a valued employer in the North East, with two well-established manufacturing facilities already located on Balliol Business Park. We look forward to working with the company in the future as they continue to invest and create jobs in the area.”
