Quorum Loves Birds

Our latest Wildlife Group addition is perfect timing for Valentines Day

Our resident Collared Doves will have a real treat in store when they return from their Winter Migration: We’ve installed a new Dovecote in front of the Hub.

Events and Sustainability Manager, Laura Barber said ‘we decided to install the dovecote following a number of birds being hit by cars along the road out of our Q9 building, the birds have been coming to this area since before Quorum was built, so it seems fitting that we take measures to protect them and make them feel at home in our grounds’.

Other Wildlife group features within Quorum include 3 Beehives, Hedgehog Boxes, Bird Feeders and a letch running the length of the business park, along with a specially designed Wildlife Corridor.

I Love My Bike Event

Free Bike Services, Slap It Bands, Bike Buddy Matching, Second Hand Bike sale and a Valentines Competition- The Bike Hub is back with a bang!

In the run up to Valentines Day, what better start to the cycling calendar than an I Love My Bike event.

The Quorum Retail was once more kitted out in its Bike Hub finery and our bicycle users were treated to FREE bike services from the Cycle Centre. Along with this our Valentine’s Theme had a Bike Buddy Match up service and a Valentines Competition where anyone who signed up to our Bicycle User Group was entered into a draw for a bottle of Fizz and chocolates for their Valentine.

Watbus were onsite with a second hand bike sale and there was even an Electric Bike Trial on the go!

Commuter Centre Manager, Laura McVittie said ‘We’re delighted with the numbers who came today, especially given its still February. We sold 6 second hand bikes, loaned out 5 of our pool bikes and we able to get a fantastic snapshot of the various routes into Quorum by bike’

New exciting dates for the diary this Spring!

We have a busy calendar of activity for 2015 including pop-up restaurants at lunch time, birthday celebrations and cycling incentives.

Keep your New Year’s resolutions alive by making the most of the ‘Better by Bike’ campaign which continues in 2015. Be re-inspired by the ‘I love my bike’ campaign which will kick off at the Bike Hub just before Valentine’s Day.

Later in the month join in with Chinese New Year celebrations on the 19th February when a Pan Asian feast will be on offer at lunchtime from city centre based restaurant, Electric East.
Quorum’s discount card, the Q Card will be celebrating its fourth birthday this year with a week-long treasure hunt between 22nd to 27th March, where staff will hunt out treasure which has been donated by Q Card partners.

Prizes to look forward to include a weekend for two in Amsterdam with DFDS Seaways, an overnight stay in Matfen Hall, the Copthorne Hotel or the Malmaison. Sports fans can try and get their hands on the T20 cricket tickets from Durham County Cricket Club up for grabs, while other residents might pick up one of the many beauty salon vouchers.

Waving goodbye to the winter, April will see the launch of the park’s first ever Triathlon Team ‘Tri Quorum’ in time for the 2015 racing season. Members will get a discounted race membership along with the opportunity to take part in organized open water swims and bike training sessions.

To put everyone in the mood for Summer, we’re bringing the Mexican festival ‘Cinco de Mayo’ to staff. Lunch time diners can enjoy Zapatisitas Burrito Bar’s Mexican delights served outside building Q12, whilst listening to the tunes of a visiting Mariachi band.

Laura Barber, events and sustainability manager at Quorum Business Park said: “Our calendar of events at the park keeps growing each year. They provide great opportunities for staff to network, take time out, and learn from one another.

“It’s great to have so many partners involved in activities this early on in the year, we are looking forward to working with them – new and old. We hope the staff make the most of what’s on offer and take a break from their desks to enjoy some of the yummy world food!”
