The sun shines on Quorum Staff at our North East Food Fair

A midweek mix of locally produced food and drink arrived to delight Quorum Business Park tenants yesterday, Wednesday 21 May 2014, at its fourth annual North East Food Fair.

Over 30 stalls offering a wide selection of fresh produce and tasty treats set up shop at the eagerly-anticipated event, held on-site at the North Newcastle business park.

Tenant employees, including staff from Tesco Bank, Balfour Beatty and Insure the Box, soaked up the sunshine whilst sampling a selection of mouth-watering chocolates, cheeses, crêpes and chutneys from the traders who boasted a broad range of gourmet gifts available to purchase on the day.

Grosvenor Casino provided charitable entertainment with a pop-up casino, offering prizes to lucky winners and raising money for the Quorum’s nominated charity, Cash for Kids. Food enterprise scheme Food Nation also served up its healthier take on a British takeaway classic – the kebab.

Staff from among the 5,000 strong workforce at Quorum browsed stalls from traders including Northumbrian Smokehouse, Wildon Grange and JR Jams.

Alongside the more traditional produce, fiery-flavoured samples were offered at world cuisine stalls, offering dishes inspired by far-away lands. Crazy Fred’s were on hand for a spicy dose of chilli-infused sauces, while Zapatistas Burrito Bar staff offered up an array of Mexican-inspired food.

Sal, owner of Tasty Thai Deli and first time exhibitor, said: “I’m really excited to be a part of Quorum’s North East Food Fair this year.

“I think it’s brilliant that small, local artisan businesses get a chance to shine and showcase their produce. The food scene in the North East has exploded and people are becoming more adventurous with the foods they’re willing to try.

“My signature ‘Thai pie’ is a wonderful dish that incorporates foods from my birth country, Thailand, and my home region. So far, they’ve been a huge hit in the North East and one day I may even take it global.”

Quorum Business Park events and sustainability manager Laura Barber concluded: “We’ve seen an even bigger turnout this year than ever before which has made the food fair another great success for all involved. I’m sure there will be plenty of indulgence over the Bank Holiday thanks to the tasty treats on offer today!”
